The Coroner Service: follow-up

Inquiry

Following the announcement that a General Election will be held on 4 July, Select Committees will be unable to meet from 24 May and will cease to exist from 30 May until after the General Election. This work has therefore closed.

During the 2019-21 session the Committee conducted an inquiry examining the effectiveness and capacity of the Coroner Service. This new inquiry will build on and revisit that work. It will consider what has changed in the Coroner Service since 2021, checking in particular on the progress that has been made on the Committee’s earlier recommendations. It will also take the opportunity to revisit in detail some crucial issues on which the Committee would like to hear further evidence.

Read an analysis of progress against the recommendations by the Committee in 2021.
