The Civil Service Commission regulates recruitment into the Civil Service, ensuring that appointments are made on merit after fair and open competition. It also hears complaints under the Civil Service Code. 

The Civil Service Commission is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Cabinet Office. The Committee will hear evidence from the First Civil Service Commissioner as part of its ongoing scrutiny.
