Scrutiny of EU legislative proposals within the scope of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland

Inquiry

One of the six core tasks in the remit of the Sub-Committee on the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland is to scrutinise new or amended EU legislation that applies (or may potential apply) to Northern Ireland within the scope of the Protocol. The Sub-Committee is conducting a short inquiry into this work, examining in detail the nature of the Committee’s scrutiny work during the past year, the UK Government’s commitments and obligations to support and inform such scrutiny, and the EU’s own obligations to take into account the implications for Northern Ireland of EU legislation that applies to it.
