Pre-appointment hearing: Regulator of Social Housing Board Chair

Pre-appointment hearing

In this session, the Committee will talk with the Government's preferred candidate for the Chair of the Board of the Regulator of Social Housing. The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) regulates registered providers of social housing to promote a viable, efficient and well-governed social housing sector able to deliver homes that meet a range of needs. The RSH is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities .

The pre-appointment hearing is an opportunity for the Committee to assess a candidate’s suitability for their appointment, including their knowledge, skills and independence, and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State on whether the appointment should go ahead. It is also an opportunity to scrutinise the quality of ministerial decision making over appointments.
