Committee holds session on gender identity clinics and transgender healthcare

On Wednesday 12 May at 14.30, the Women and Equalities Committee will hold its next inquiry session on the Reform of the Gender Recognition Act.

Purpose of the session
The Committee will hear from two panels about the operation of gender identity clinics, including the three pilot clinics announced as part of the GRA Consultation response, and transgender healthcare more widely.
The main aims of the session are:
- To understand whether the Government’s proposal of opening three new gender identity clinics goes far enough in addressing the waiting times many trans people currently face
- To examine the impact and operation of the three new pilot gender identity clinics
- To explore some of the key concerns trans people have in accessing healthcare
- To scrutinise some of the work carried out by the National LGBT Health Advisor and other NHS representatives in supporting trans people’s access to services
