The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee held a pre-appointment hearing with Andrew Tyrie, the Government's preferred candidate for Chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Members asked about the role of the CMA in protecting consumers and the accountability of the organisation. The Committee produced a report following the session, before the Secretary of State makes a final decision on the appointment.
