Pre-appointment hearing with the Government's preferred candidiate for Chair of the Financial Reporting Council inquiry

On Wednesday 17 July, the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing on the Government’s preferred candidate for the post of Chair of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), Simon Dingemans. The Financial Reporting Council is due to be replaced by the Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority.

The Secretary of State has invited the Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee to hold a pre-appointment hearing and to report on Mr Dingemans’ suitability for the post. This is in line with the government’s commitment to strengthen the role of Parliament in scrutinising major public appointments.
