The Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) was created by the Groceries Code Adjudicator Act 2013, following concerns about unfair competition practices and abuses of power in the groceries market. The role of the Groceries Code Adjudicator is to ensure that 12 “designated” or “regulated” retailers comply with the Groceries Supply Code of Practice and treat their direct suppliers lawfully and fairly.
