Appointment of the Chair of Homes England

Pre-appointment hearing

The Chair of Homes England is responsible for running the Board of Homes England, including providing strategic leadership, managing the Agency’s relationship with the Secretary of State, and building collaborative strategic partnerships.

The pre-appointment hearing is an opportunity for the Committee to assess a candidate’s suitability for their appointment, including their knowledge, skills and independence, and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State on whether the appointment should go ahead. It is also an opportunity to scrutinise the quality of ministerial decision making over appointments.
