Follow up to PHSO report ‘Missed Opportunities’ inquiry

Inquiry

In June 2019, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) published Missed opportunities: What lessons can be learned from failings at the North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. In ‘Missed opportunities’, the PHSO sets out two cases they investigated which, they reported, illustrated significant failings in the care and treatment of two young men who were admitted to North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP).

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee is holding a one-off oral evidence session to explore key issues raised by the PHSO’s most recent report, such as leadership and creating a culture of learning, and the actions needed to address those issues.

The committee will not be looking at the specific individual cases investigated in the report.
