Committee to host networking event for farmers and agriculture journalists

18 June 2019

The Scottish Affairs Committee invites farmers, representatives of agriculture organisations and journalists to meet Committee members at the NFU stall at the Royal Highland Show.

The Scottish Affairs Committee will be coming to NFU Scotland's stall at the Royal Highland Show from 12pm – 1.30pm on Friday 21 June.

Over the last year, the Committee has examined several agricultural issues, largely focused on the impact of Brexit on the future of Scottish agriculture. The Committee has been looking at the funding formula for agricultural support, providing enough labour for Scottish farms – particularly during the harvesting season – and advancing Scottish agriculture through increasing use of innovative technologies. The Committee is keen to feed the views of farmers and other people working in the agriculture sector into its work.

The Committee would like to invite anyone attending the show to come and talk to the Committee about any issues that are important to them. The Committee also welcomes the opportunity to speak to journalists focusing on agriculture. There will be an opportunity to interview the Chair and other members of the Committee from 1pm.
