The Committee holds a one off session to examine the impact of HMRC's reorganisation in Scotland.

17 out of 18 HMRC offices in Scotland are scheduled to close as part of a UK-wide reorganisation. This is to make way for two 'Centres of Excellence' in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Office closures will take place between 2017–26 and could result in up to 2,000 fewer jobs in Scotland by 2021.

Drop-in centres for face-to-face advice have already been closed, meaning that smaller businesses and individuals already receive taxation advice from HMRC call-centres. However, there are concerns that a reduction in the number of staff could lead to a worse service and HMRC could lose skills and experience.
