Regulation of medical implants

Inquiry

The European Directive on medical devices was due to be revised in 2012 with draft proposals expected to be published by July 2012. The European Commission stated that it would use the opportunity to strengthen existing legislation, particularly provisions relating to market surveillance, vigilance and the functioning of notified bodies. The Committee aimed to influence this process with an inquiry. The inquiry was launched on 23 March to examine the Regulation of medical implants.
