Prison governance inquiry

Inquiry

The Justice Committee is holding an inquiry into prison governance to consider the role of the prison governor, following the changes set out in the Government’s white paper Prison Safety and Reform, as well as how the Ministry of Justice and HMPPS should provide effective oversight of prisons. The Committee is also interested in how effective oversight arrangements are for commissioned services, such as health and education, as well as the extent to which there is collaboration between prison, probation and other community services.
