Purpose of the Session

Next Tuesday's evidence session gives the Committee an opportunity to question the responsible Minister and officials from both DFID and the FCO on the issues raised by the evidence we have previously gathered on DFID's country programmes in Burma and Bangladesh.

Members will also want to follow up on the plight of the Rohingya refugees from Burma currently sheltering in Bangladesh, in view of the Committee's recent visit to their camps in that country, the Government Statement on Burma in the House last week and the looming monsoon crisis which is the subject of a further IDC report to be published on the day of the evidence session.
