The International Development Committee questioned experts and the responsible Government Minister to examine the ongoing humanitarian crisis in South Sudan, assessing the current political and humanitarian situation on the ground, human rights, and UK involvement in the country. The Committee heard about access to basic services for the people of South Sudan, issues of gender based violence, food insecurity and access to healthcare, and UK humanitarian and political support to the world’s newest nation.
