Implications for development should Scotland becomes an independent country

Inquiry

The International Development Committee launched an inquiry into the implications for Development in the event of Scotland becoming an independent country. The Committee holds that there are implications for poor people and poor countries. The present devolved Scottish administration currently runs a small International Development Fund of its own, but it is not known how this would develop in the event of Scotland becoming an independent country.

The International Development Committee's concluding Report warned that an independent Scotland would no longer be able to make a 'transformational' contribution to international development.
