The Foreign Affairs Committee holds its first evidence session on the UK's relations with Turkey.

Purpose of the session

During this introductory session of the inquiry, the Committee will hear about the key aspects of Turkey's foreign policy and domestic dynamics. These will include:

  • Turkey's foreign-policy objectives, and its role in regional security
  • Turkey's political direction, and the status of rights and freedoms in the country
  • The 15 July coup attempt, its perpetrators, and its consequences
