Reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)

European scrutiny

The EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) – of which central elements are direct payments to farmers and rural development funding – is coming to the end of its current programming period of 2014-20. Reforms to the CAP are being discussed for the new programming period, which was due to start at the beginning of 2021, though is now expected to start later due to delays in the negotiations.

We are writing to the Minister to explore the impact of the reformed CAP on the UK as a third country.
