Focus of the session

MPs will examine the Government's recently announced rental e-scooter trial scheme and the future role of e-scooters in the UK transport mix. 
Areas of questioning are likely to focus on:

  • The Government's recently announced framework for e-scooter rental schemes, including the rules for e-scooter users and vehicle design
  • whether legalising e-scooters would decrease congestion or move people from other modes of active travel, such as walking or cycling;
  • the implications that e-scooter rental trials might have for pedestrians and other road users, including those with disabilities
  • whether there is evidence that e-scooters could help the UK meet its environmental and climate change targets and the action
    e-scooter companies are taking to improve their green credentials.
