SEND - Ofsted, Care Quality Commission and the Independent Parental Special Education Advice questioned

How local authorities are inspected to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities to children with SEND and how problems and disputes are handled, and why they arise will be the focus of the Education Committee's latest evidence session on special educational needs and disabilities.

Purpose of the session
The Committee will first question Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on their role holding local authorities to account through joint inspections.
The second panel with IPSEA (Independent Parental Special Education Advice), law firm Simpson Millar and the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman will focus on problems in the system and their resolution, including through tribunals. Questions are likely to centre on accountability within the system and the use of tribunals.
