Inquiry

The Education Committee is examining Academies and free schools with a view to addressing the following areas:

  • The effectiveness of academisation in narrowing the gap for disadvantaged children
  • The process for establishing, academies and free schools, including working with sponsors.

The Committee also looks at the role of the Secretary of State in intervening in and supporting failing academies, and what alternatives to sponsored academy status should be offered to failing primary schools.
