On 9 February 2011 the Committee announced a short inquiry into the English Baccalaureate (EBac)

The Committee called for written submissions addressing the following points:

  • the purpose and benefits of the EBac and its value as a measure of pupil and school performance;
  • the choice of subjects included in the EBac;
  • the implications of the EBac for pupils, schools and employers;
  • international comparators for the EBac.

The deadline for written submissions passed on Tuesday 8 March 2011.
