UK Defence and the Strait of Hormuz inquiry

Inquiry

The Committee is examining the circumstances surrounding the seizure, by the Royal Marines on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar, of the Iran-flagged Grace 1 oil tanker. The Committee will explore whether: the level of assets at the Royal Navy’s disposal to protect flagged vessels is adequate, any contingency planning had been undertaken for potential Iranian responses to the seizure of Grace 1 and, if so, how effective were those plans in light of the detention of the Stena Impero by Iran.
