Sustainable Communities Act 2007

Inquiry

Following receipt of a memorandum from the Department for Communities and Local Government reviewing the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, the Committee decided to carry out post-legislative scrutiny of the legislation and invited memoranda. The written submissions from interested parties are available on this website. In May 2013 the Government published Sustainable Communities Act 2007 -Government Response to Consultation on Proposal for extending powers to town and parish councils. The Government concluded that existing legislation should be extended to town and parish councils. Having considered the submissions in the light of the Government’s conclusion the Committee is not pursuing scrutiny of the legislation further at this stage.
