UK trade negotiations

Inquiry

This inquiry will be accepting submissions on an ongoing basis and will consider the progress of, and issues relating to, trade negotiations led by the Department for International Trade.

This inquiry was launched on 1 April 2020, and its scope was amended on 21 October 2021. The previous details, including the former terms of reference, are available here. It will focus on cross-cutting and strategic aspects of the UK Government’s trade negations approach and policy.

The Committee will consider specific trade negotiations and free trade agreements (FTAs) with individual countries through separate inquiries. It has previously scrutinised the FTA with Japan, and is currently considering the negotiations with New Zealand.

The Committee welcomes evidence on any of the new terms of reference, on an ongoing basis. Evidence received prior to the change of scope will still be considered under this inquiry or the sub-inquiries as appropriate.
