MPs are likely to use the session to quiz the Secretary of State on the impact of the agreement on the agricultural industry in the UK, and on how Parliament will scrutinise the deal.
Questions are also likely to explore the impacts of the agreement on professional services such as law firms and architects, data flows, and the UK’s climate ambitions. MPs may also use the hearing to press for further information on the UK’s ambition to join the CPTPP (the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership).
The session forms part of the Committee’s inquiry into UK trade negotiations: Agreement with New Zealand.
