The Commissioner for Public Appointments has a number of functions set out in the Public Appointments Order in Council 2019, which include ensuring that Ministerial appointments are made in accordance with the Governance Code and the principles of public appointments. The position is subject to pre-appointment scrutiny by the Committee.
