Foreign Affairs Committee takes evidence on the Russia-Ukraine crisis
This session follows the Committee’s visit to Ukraine, including to the Donbas and eastern border. The Committee will hear from The Committee will hear from: Fiona Hill, former Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council; Shashank Joshi, Defence Editor, The Economist; and Anders Aslund, Senior Fellow, Stockholm Free World Institute.
The session will likely explore the Ukrainian government’s assessment of Russia’s objectives and the prospect for a diplomatic resolution to escalating tensions. The Committee will likely also discuss the impact of the recent withdrawal of UK and US embassy staff. The session may also discuss possible deterrents, including possible increased military provisions for Ukraine and economic sanctions on Russia.
