MPs are likely to use the session with experts to examine whether the emphasis on growth and competitiveness could distract from focus on financial stability, regulatory changes to prioritise post-Brexit, and the opportunities and risks of promoting innovation in the UK financial services industry.

The Committee could also seek experts’ views on whether open banking has been a success from a consumer perspective, the opportunities and risks of promoting innovation in the UK financial services industry, and the prospects for digital currencies.

Other potential topics include the UK’s banking resolution regime, diversity and inclusion in the sector, and the Financial Conduct Authority’s consultation for a proposed Consumer Duty.
