The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing for the Government’s preferred candidate for the role of Chair of the Financial Reporting Council, Sir Jan du Plessis.

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is the independent regulator of auditors, accountants and actuaries that is sponsored by the BEIS Department. It sets the UK’s Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes and aims to promote transparency and integrity in business.  

A pre-appointment hearing is an opportunity for the BEIS Committee to question the candidate on their suitability for the role, and to scrutinise the Government’s decision-making on its chosen candidate.  

The Committee will publish a short report on the proposed appointment in the days following the session.
