Committee discusses energy and net zero with National Grid and international stakeholders
The Industry and Regulators Committee will hear evidence from international energy experts, National Grid and National Grid Electricity System Operator, discussing the role of the energy sector in reaching net zero carbon emissions. The Committee will first hear about how other countries have been decarbonising their energy sectors, the changes that will be needed to energy regulation and how to deal with related challenges including maintaining secure energy supplies and affordable prices for consumers. The Committee will then discuss whether the UK has clear policy and regulatory frameworks to reach net zero, the challenges of operating a more renewable energy system and what changes are needed to Ofgem’s regulation to enable a net zero energy system.
