The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee holds the first evidence session of its new inquiry on State Aid and Post-Brexit Competition Policy, on Tuesday 26th October from 10.45am.

Purpose of the session
The panel of witnesses will include John Penrose MP, the Prime Minister's Anti-Corruption Champion and author of an independent report on competition policy.
During this session, the cross-party group of MPs will ask questions concerning how the UK’s competition law is likely to evolve following the UK’s departure from the EU, and its implications for business and consumers.
The panel of expert witnesses are also likely to be asked about the changing role and responsibilities of the Competition and Markets Authority, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted competition policy.
The Committee will ask witnesses about the Government’s proposals for reforming competition and consumer policy.
The State Aid and Post-Brexit Competition Policy inquiry will also form the final part of the BEIS Committee’s long-term overarching inquiry on Post-Pandemic Economic Growth, launched in June 2020.
