Academics questioned about Ofgem’s role in net zero
The Industry and Regulators Committee will speak to three academics about the role of the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), the UK’s energy regulator, in the transition to net zero. The meeting will cover Ofgem’s objectives and powers, its work in protecting the interests of consumers, and its relationship to Government and Parliament.
Possible questions include:
- What role does Ofgem have in the transition to net zero? How has this changed over time?
- What changes, if any, are needed to Ofgem’s objectives and powers with respect to achieving net zero?
- To what extent does Ofgem’s work on net zero conflict with the interests of consumers?
- What implications does the transition to net zero have for Ofgem’s relationship to the Government and Parliament?
