Can the UK build enough batteries to power road transport decarbonisation?
Continuing its inquiry into the role batteries and fuel cells in achieving net-zero emissions, the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will hear from experts on advanced battery manufacturing and scaling up to industrial-level production.
The Committee has heard in evidence that the drive to electrify automotive vehicles will require significant battery manufacturing capacity in the UK. The Committee will question the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre and leading academics about translating research into manufacturing, and will then question representatives from the automotive and battery industries about the challenges of setting up ‘gigafactories’.
