Purpose of the session

The purpose of this session is to understand the background to the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme; in particular, how the 50:50 surplus sharing arrangements came about, what information or advice taken at the time underpinned this agreement, and whether the Government has received more or less money from the arrangement than was predicted or expected at the time the agreement was reached.
