IDC set to hold first session in Global Health inquiry
The International Development Committee is opening oral evidence sessions for its inquiry investigating the current global health situation in light of recent funding cuts.
The inquiry will see the Committee assessing the current state of the global health architecture and the impact of aid cuts, particularly the closure of USAID.
MPs will explore how reductions in Official Development Assistance from the UK and other countries affect healthcare provision across the world.
Meeting details
On Tuesday, the first panel of witnesses will be questioned about the impact on the ground of these reductions in ODA, and how their organisations and communities are adapting to the changing landscape.
A second panel of witnesses will be asked about the global implications of health aid cuts on health programming and provision. MPs will also consider the impact on the research and surveillance that help keep us all safe from global health threats.
