Darren Jones to face questions on the government's missions, departmental silos, and spending
Darren Jones, former Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, will appear in front of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) next Tuesday morning.
During his time as a minister, Mr Jones was involved in ensuring the Government's five missions were pursued: growing the economy, an NHS fit for the future, safer streets, opportunity for all, and making Britain a clean energy superpower.
Meeting details
As part of the PACAC's inquiry into mission-led government, the session will focus on Darren Jones' views of how missions were pursued in government, and the lessons learnt about how governments can set and implement their priorities in the future.
Many of the Government's missions rely on cross-departmental working, which is a longstanding challenge within Whitehall and the session may include questions on tackling departmental silos.
MPs may also ask about the missions' impact on previous budgets and spending decisions, as well as the government’s ability to learn from failure and adapt policy appropriately.
