MPs quiz Innovate UK and Regulatory Innovation Office
The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will examine the work of Innovate UK and the Regulatory Innovation Office on Tuesday 14 July.
In the first panel, the committee will question Tom Adeyoola, Executive Chair of Innovate UK, on his first year in post. MPs could also ask about IUK’s funding and budget, its relationship with UKRI and DSIT, and its response to the committee’s report Flying blind: Innovation, growth and the regions.
In the second panel, the committee will question Lord (David) Willetts, Chair of the Regulatory Innovation Office. RIO was launched in October 2024 within DSIT to “reduce the burden of red tape” for innovative businesses, and Lord Willetts was announced as its Chair in March 2025.

MPs may ask about his first year in the role and RIO’s performance, as well as its work supporting the UK’s engineering biology, space, healthcare and drone sectors.
