MPs to quiz Minister for Women and Equalities Bridget Phillipson

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Sarah Owen, will also hear from Marcus Bell, Director, Office for Equality and Opportunity and Catherine Little, Chief Operating Officer for the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office.
The session forms part of the WEC’s regular scrutiny of the work of the Minister for Women and Equalities and the Office for Equality and Opportunity. It follows the publication in May of the Equality Act Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations.
Discussion is also likely to focus on commencing the Equality Act’s socioeconomic duty, race and disability pay gap reporting and equal pay provisions, and improved implementation of the public sector equality duty.
MPs may also explore issues around online safety, social media and the manosphere, VAWG Strategy progress and early years access to BSL.
