How can the UK deter Russian aggression by imposing costs and constraints? New parliamentary inquiry launches
Today the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy launches a new inquiry on the UK’s approach to deterring Russian aggression, with a focus on imposing costs and constraints.
The Committee will hold the first session of the new inquiry, hearing evidence from experts in Russian politics and security, including former UK Defence Attache to Moscow, John Foreman CBE.
Meeting details
Among the questions Committee members are likely to ask are the views of Russia’s security services towards Britain, the UK’s options to impose costs on Russia and which of these its government is likely to take most seriously, and what changes in the UK might help to deliver stronger deterrence.
