Minister and senior FCA official to give evidence on financial inclusion
The new Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Rachel Blake MP, will appear in front of MPs next Tuesday morning as the Treasury Committee inquiry into the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy nears its conclusion.
Meeting details
The session will be split into two panels. First, MPs will hear from Sarah Pritchard, the Deputy Chief Executive at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Ms Pritchard is likely to be asked about the role of regulation in tackling financial exclusion, including the Consumer Duty, access to financial services and the limits of the FCA’s powers. The extent to which the Government’s Strategy complements the regulator’s efforts may also feature.
After hearing from the FCA, MPs will question the Economic Secretary to the Treasury alongside HM Treasury officials. This part of the session will look at both the Treasury’s process for creating its Financial Inclusion Strategy, the overall ambition of the Strategy and how it intends to measure its impact.
