MOD minister Luke Pollard faces concluding questions on Afghan data breach
The Minister of State for Defence Readiness and Industry, Luke Pollard MP, will give evidence on the Afghan data breach and resettlement schemes; the final session in the Committee’s inquiry. The Minister will appear alongside senior officials at the Ministry of Defence (MOD) responsible for the cross-government Afghan Resettlement Programme
The session will explore the lessons to be learned from successive governments’ handling of the data breach and its consequences, including the impacts of an unprecedented two-year super-injunction.
Meeting details
Questions are otherwise likely to focus on events since the 2024 general election, including:
- the lifting of the super-injunction (‘break glass’),
- the decision to close the relocation schemes to new applications,
- completion of the review of applications from former ‘Triples’ (Afghan special forces units trained by the UK), and
- ongoing work to bring eligible Afghans, especially those who remain in Afghanistan, to the UK by the end of 2028.
