Cabinet Office minister to face questions on propriety and ethics in politics
Next Tuesday, Baroness Anderson will appear in front of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) as the inquiry into propriety and ethics in politics nears its conclusion.
The Government has committed to cleaning up public life by implementing the highest possible standards of integrity and honesty. With this in mind, the Government launched the Ethics and Integrity Commission (EIC) in October last year.
MPs are likely to question Baroness Anderson on how the Government’s commitments to strengthen standards in public life through the EIC are being delivered in practice.
Meeting details
It’s likely that the Committee will also seek to probe the Minister for her view on the broader standards landscape, and whether she believes it has changed substantively since the current Government took office.
Other topics which may come up include the role of propriety and ethics in public appointments and local government.
