MPs to question TikTok, X, Meta and Google

The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will question senior representatives of Google, TikTok, X and Meta in a follow-up session examining harmful algorithms and misinformation.

All four companies appeared in front of the committee in 2025 as part of its inquiry into social media misinformation, during which they stated their intention to learn lessons from past events and improve safety on their platforms.

Meeting details

At 9:30am: Oral evidence
Work Follow-up on Social media, misinformation and harmful algorithms inquiry (Non-inquiry session)
Director, Global Government Affairs at X (formerly known as Twitter)
Director of Public Policy, Northern Europe at TikTok

In this follow-up, the cross-party committee may follow up on issues raised in the 2025 evidence session and assess progress on recommendations set out in the committee’s inquiry report.

MPs could explore the failures to tackle misinformation following the Southport unrest in 2024, the deployment of AI features, and the government’s consultation on social media age restrictions.
