Government proposals for tackling financial exclusion to be discussed with consumer organisations
Consumer advocates and non-profit organisations with expertise in tackling financial exclusion will give evidence to the Treasury Committee.

This will be the third session of the Committee’s work assessing the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy.
MPs will hear from a range of organisations which specialise in dealing with the social and personal impacts of financial exclusion. Chief Executives from Fair4All Finance, The Money Charity and the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute will appear alongside a Director from the Good Things Foundation.
The Committee is likely to ask whether the Strategy addresses the main drivers of financial exclusion, including questions about the use of pilots and voluntary action. Members may also examine whether the Government’s proposals on financial capability and debt support are likely to make a measurable difference.
The Committee’s inquiry into the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy was launched in November 2025. In early February, academics and experts shared their views on how to tackle financial exclusion. This was followed by a session with banks and insurers earlier this month.
