Committee questions Minister on how regulators fit into Government’s growth strategy
The Industry and Regulators Committee will hear from Lord Livermore, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, in the final session of its inquiry into regulators and growth. The Committee will question how the Government’s current push for regulators to support investment, innovation and economic growth will be implemented and monitored. The Committee will also consider whether the Government has been clear enough with regulators on its strategy for economic growth, what role regulators should play in supporting growth, and what trade-offs this might involve with their other responsibilities, such as consumer, safety and environmental protections. The Committee will discuss whether regulators should be less risk-averse and whether the Government will provide political cover for regulators to allow greater risk.
