Banks and insurers to be questioned on financial inclusion

Representatives from the banking and insurance sectors will give evidence to the Treasury Committee on financial inclusion. This will be the second session of the Committee’s work assessing the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy.

The session will be split into two parts. The first part will focus on the banking sector, with MPs questioning Jasjyot Singh OBE, CEO of Consumer Relationships at Lloyds Banking Group, and Nationwide Building Society’s Director of Retail, Stephen Noakes.

This will then be followed by a separate panel with the insurance sector. Senior staff from the Association of British Insurers and the Association of Financial Mutuals will be represented alongside a representative from Allianz UK.

MPs are likely to want to discuss how two of the biggest parts of the finance industry, the banking and insurance sectors, have contributed to the formulation of the Government’s strategy. They may also ask how those sectors are likely to implement the measures and their potential impact on tackling financial exclusion in the UK.

The Committee’s inquiry into the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy was launched in November 2025. In early February, academics and experts shared their views on how to tackle financial exclusion.
