How can Scotland’s communities benefit from rising defence spending?

The Scottish Affairs Committee continues its inquiry into Scotland’s defence skills and jobs, examining the role of prime defence contractors in maximising the benefits of defence spending for Scotland.

The cross-party committee will hear from representatives of defence contractors BAE Systems, Leonardo, QinetiQ and Babcock. Questions may be asked about how they are translating increased defence spending and revenues into tangible benefits for Scotland and their relationship with Scottish SMEs.

MPs could also explore skills and workforce gaps in Scotland’s defence sector, including apprenticeship programmes and overseas recruitment, and Defence Growth Deals.
