New inquiry to examine Government proposals to strengthen Northern Ireland’s voice on the Windsor Framework
On Wednesday 4 March, the Northern Ireland Scrutiny Committee launches a short inquiry to examine recent Government commitments aimed at strengthening the business voice in the context of the Windsor Framework. It follows the Government’s formal response to the Committee’s October 2025 report and recommendations, which the Committee has welcomed alongside the response to Lord Murphys’ independent review, published in December 2025.
However, the Committee remains focused on how well these proposals will work in practice, whether the measures will truly strengthen Northern Ireland’s voice and provide the necessary support for the local businesses and consumers.
Over two oral evidence sessions, the Committee will speak to key business stakeholders in Northern Ireland to examine issues including the establishment of a "One Stop Shop" and a Northern Ireland Business Stakeholders’ Group.
The Committee expects to publish its findings in a letter to the Government before the Easter recess.
